Kate Ricci has been involved with AbilityPlus Adaptive Sports for several years, starting as volunteer assisting in both the summer and winter programs. She was excited to play a more active role in the AbilityPlus family when she was hired as an assistant in 2016. Kate is instrumental in helping with the coordination of volunteers, participants and record keeping, working closely with Program Director, Liz Wehmeyer, on projects, grants, and planning for future programming and training.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Audiology from Northeastern University, Kate continued her education at NU, receiving a Master’s of Education in Counseling, focusing in Rehabilitation. Initially, Kate was employed in the private rehabilitation sector assisting employees injured on the job with their return to work. She later became proficient in vocational evaluation techniques allowing her to work with a variety of individuals that required job modifications. As co-owner of the Vocational Assessment Center, Kate and her business partners worked closely with NH, VT and MA State Rehabilitation Agencies, the Veterans Administration, high school students and private insurance companies. As her career goals changed, Kate used her skill set in adaptation and worked as Director of Disability Services at Rivier University.
Mt Washington Valley has always been a second home to Kate. She grew up vacationing here with her family and when she and her husband Mike married they too vacationed here, purchasing a vacation home 20 years ago. Three years ago the vacation home became a permanent home and they now live year round in the valley and enjoy many outdoor activities with their children and granddaughter.
